Domain Aliasing

Add additional domain names to re-direct to your primary domain name.

Domain aliasing allows you to host a Web site on one domain and point other domain names to the site. When you sign-up for a Concentric® account and register your domain name, you will have the opportunity to register other domains at the same time as domain aliases. Once your account is active, you can add more domain aliases quickly and easily through the Concentric Center by yourself, and may even register a new domain name and add it as an alias at the same time. Other providers require a request to support and charge a 1-time setup fee (in addition to domain registration fees), but not with Concentric.

You can register additional top level domains (TLDs) for your custom domain name, such as adding “mycompany.net”, “mycompany.biz” or “mycompany.info” as aliases to supplement your primary domain name “mycompany.com”. As a result, any Web site hits to those aliases will be automatically re-directed to your primary domain. Also, any e-mail messages sent to e-mailboxes under one of your domain aliases will also be automatically re-directed to the e-mailbox under your primary domain.

Concentric domain aliases also include creating 3rd-level domain aliases for any custom domain name you own, such as creating “products.mycompany.com” or “support.mycompany.com” under your domain “mycompany.com”. You have the option of mapping Web site hits to directories other than your root Web directory on Concentric Hosting accounts, so in this example “products.mycompany.com” could automatically re-direct to your products page. For e-mailboxes, you even have the option of re-directing messages sent to an e-mailbox under one alias to different e-mailboxes under your primary domain.

And remember that you are in complete control of all changes to your Concentric Domain Aliases via the easy and intuitive Concentric Center.

The Concentric Hosting and Windows Hosting plans include generous allocations of domain aliases, saving you additional monthly service charges (does not include domain name registration fees). You are free to add more domain aliases if your business requires more than the included amount in your account plan.

Domain aliases are also referred to as “domain pointers” or “domain forwarding”.
