Domains & DNS
When you register a domain name with Concentric or change the nameservers of an existing domain name to ours, by default we associate all services for that domain — such as web site, email, and FTP services — to our Clustered Hosting server cluster. For most SMBs, that addresses their needs. But some SMBs and enterprises host servers on their premises and require DNS record customization to direct traffic to specific servers they manage. This can be easily done using our DNS Manager tool, available to all Email, Standard, Windows and Corporate Domain Manager service plans.
Concentric supports every aspect of your domain names and DNS needs, including:
- Domain search – We help you find the best domain name for your business.
- Domain Hosting Plans
- Registration – Concentric is a preferred registrar and offers exceptional pricing. Add hosting and start using your domain name immediately.
- Transfer – We make it easy to transfer your domain name to us.

What is a Domain Name?
On the Internet, a domain name is a unique alphabetical address like www.concentric.com that is used instead of the complicated numeric address that identifies each computer (such as 207.155.253.154). Using domain names allows web users to more easily find what they are looking for and communicate online.
What is DNS?
The Domain Name System (DNS) associates the numeric computer address with its “domain” name. It serves as the "phone book" for the Internet by translating human-readable computer hostnames, e.g. www.concentric.com into IP addresses, e.g. 207.155.253.154, so that networking equipment can deliver information.
